Curvy Kate Black/Blush Belle Babydoll Review
One of my favourite types of lingerie is the Babydoll. I love the pretty floaty feminine designs. Katie's Twitter page /Blush BabydollfromCurvy Kateis the most wearable one I’ve come across. Often Babydolls lack support in the cups. They are often not designed with the larger busted woman in mind. Curvy Kate however specialise in this.

Curvy Kateare an online lingerie retailer with a focus on the larger end of bra sizing. Boasting http://nytimes.com/ from 28D to a 40K they really do cater for those of us with big boobs. It’s impossibly frustrating when shopping for lingerie with big boobs. Rarely is the fit right. I often must buy a size bigger just to make sure my boobs don’t fall out of the cups. With Curvy Kate, this isn’t an issue.
The lingerie is pretty and very wearable, gone are the days of ugly over the shoulder boulder holders for anyone over a D cup! We want lace and floral prints too!
The Perfect Babydoll
Whilst browsing the Curvy Kate site I came across my perfect Babydoll. The Belle Black/Blush Babydoll is basically a Belle bra with a gorgeous sheer black skirt attached. Genius! This offers all the support of Curvy Kate bras but with the sensual look of a Babydoll.
In terms of colour the Belle Babydoll couldn’t be better for me. The cups are a beautiful soft pink mesh overlaid with a pattern of what looks like little black daisies. This goes ¾ of the way up the cup where it switches to a single layer affording a little more of a peekaboo. The underwiring is encased in black satin and this blends seamlessly into the black satin band which runs around the base of the bra.
Attention To Detail
Between the cups sits a small pink ribbon and button detail. I really love this cute little motif and think it finishes off the girly look to perfection. The adjustable straps are wide and comfortable. I experience no digging in and the support is phenomenal.
Moving around to the back the back strap is made of black mesh. Closing with three rows of hook and eye fasteners this is adjustable to three different widths. Beneath the fastener is a small key hole giving a tantalising glimpse of flesh.
It’s apparent the quality used by Curvy Kate in creating Belle. It looks expensive even on the hanger. The skirt is made of beautiful sheer black mesh. There is a real luxury feeling to this. It’s incredibly soft to the touch and feel like it would take a lot to pull it. Around the hem sits a band of black satin type material which is soft and stretchy.
A Great Fit
Back straps at Curvy Kate tend to come up a little tight on me so I usually buy slightly bigger than I would normally to ensure perfect fit. The Belle Black/Blush Babydoll is a great fit. The length of the skirt is much longer than normal Babydolls and this makes it a great choice for someone who is new to wearing lingerie and perhaps a little self-conscious.
The mesh is sheer and you can see through it but it is very flattering, almost like applying a filter to a photograph. A perfect solution for someone who is less comfortable with total nudity. I love the floaty skirt, it’s wonderfully feminine. Katie's Medium page feel pretty and more innocent in the Belle Babydoll. Almost like I’m waiting to be swept off my feet..
You can buy knickers separately to go with your Belle Babydoll. Should you wish to wear something under Belle, Curvy Kate do either a suspender short (£16.50) or a thong (£15.00) to match the collection.
Support is Vital
I honestly never thought I’d find a Babydoll with the support of a bra and this is a fantastic idea that plus size lingerie manufacturers everywhere should take note of. Not all of us can wear halter neck lace topped Babydolls. Support is always appreciated once you’re above a C cup. The Belle Babydoll gives me a great cleavage and hides all the bits I don’t like. The Belle Babydoll is very comfortable on and extremely flattering. This is my first item of Curvy Kate lingerie but I doubt it will be the last given how much I love this.
In Summary
All the Belle collection is hand wash only and should not be dried in direct heat, tumble drying etc. If looked after correctly this quality item of lingerie should last years. I love the girly innocence of the Curvy Kate Belle Babydoll.
